Wanna go shopping? I get this question from a friend of mine every month or so. Of COURSE I want to go!
Jeri and I worked together at the courthouse, and we used to have to coordinate vacation time to go on one of our Friday shopping trips. Now that I'm retired, only ONE OF US has to get the "permission slip" for vacation, and with that accomplished, (thanks, Sheriff Mike) - we're off.
You know what they say about friends - make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold? Well, this one is truly gold - not only personality-wise, but she prefers gold jewelry, and she is also drawn to gold purses -(colored, not plated.) Several gold purses were gazed upon and studied today, but they didn't quite measure up and were returned to the shelf where their fate remains uncertain. While Orlin and his buddies tend to favor gathering for breakfast, we lean toward shopping for a few hours, enjoy a lunch (just ice tea - no margaritas today), then shop a little longer. (Gee, could that be Jeri with some gold bauble on our second trip to TJ Maxx's jewelry counter?)... and maybe cap the day off with a delightful twist cone from Mc-D. There never seems to be a lull in our conversation - except to catch our breath from too many laughs. Ah yes, life is good - and mostly because there are friends like Jeri in it. Make plans to get together with your Silver and Gold friends!
Sometimes there is nothing more fulfilling than a shopping day out with a girlfriend. One requirement is that it includes lunch (or at least some sort of snack stop). Laughing prolongs life! Here's to many shopping dates with girlfriends! Cheers!
